THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KAPEN PRIDE (K de Melo) lost 1 length. b) FIGHT SONG (W Kennedy) fly-jumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TEICHMAN (D Schwarz) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. b) HEY BILL (S Moodley) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. c) KAPEN PRIDE (K de Melo) was baulked on at least 2 occasions for a clear run in the concluding stages. d) Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss with VITUS BEIRING (15.80 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why HIGH GREEN (M Yeni) had to ease at the 250m. f) Trainer C Erasmus (FOLLOW MY PATH) will be advised that his runner failed to adequately parade and that should this gelding behave similarly in future, it may be suspended. g) Jockey L Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4, in that as the rider of HIGH GREEN, he failed to weigh out at the carded weight resulting in a change of rider. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. h) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse HEY BILL more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse HEY BILL, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. i) SPRING FLING (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) HIGH GREEN was ridden by Jockey M Yeni (advised 28.02.21/08h36). b) HEY BILL Jockey S Moodley weighed out at 52.7kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) HIGH GREEN : Mild post race distress. b) COUNT MARSH : Cut into both hind. c) VITUS BEIRING : Nothing obvious detected.
