THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the pull-up area, THE SNOW WAR (G Wright) ducked out, dislodging Jockey G Wright. Jockey G Wright was attended to by the course medical staff, rendered medically indisposed, and unable to weigh back in. The Board, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. b) Jockey S Moodley reported that DALLAS (40.50 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey D Dillon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse PALACE WIND more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey D Dillon the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey D Dillon struck the horse PALACE WIND, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey D Dillon used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. d) Jockey L Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse WHAT A BLAST more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey L Ferraris the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey L Ferraris struck the horse WHAT A BLAST, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey L Ferraris used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed e) TWO OF US (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Kennedy advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PRESUMPTUOUS raced with a compression mask. b) DALLAS raced with a compression mask. c) STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH was ridden by Apprentice T Gumede.
