THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KEEPINGTHEPEACE (S Khumalo) was slow into stride. b) MAUBY (R Simons) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with CASTLE DURROW in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that FLYING FIRST CLASS did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) IDEAL ANGEL (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Verdonese advised (RH). Jockey W Kennedy was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck IDEAL ANGEL more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Kennedy signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration Jockey Kennedy's record with regard to this Rule and Guideline, and the fact that he won the race. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) IDEAL ANGEL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 2 March 2021 at 07H58). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CASTLE DURROW examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) LYRICAL DANCE fatigued. c) FLYING FIRST CLASS examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
