THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUATRO AIR (S Moodley) lost 2 lengths. b) BARRY'S VISION (E Ngwane) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) COMMAND COUNCIL (R Fourie) and NOBLE NOVA (M Yeni) made contact shortly after the start. b) DO RE MI (*J Jacobs) pulled hard in the early stages, proving difficult to restrain. c) COMMAND COUNCIL (R Fourie) was switched to the outside of ELLIS ISLAND (A Arries) for a clear run entering the final straight. d) KOALA (*G Pieterse) shifted in away from the crop between the 250m and the 200m. Thereafter, this filly was hanging in, in the concluding stages. e) NOBLE NOVA (M Yeni) was hanging in, in the final straight. f) Jockey R Munger reported that ILLUSIVE LEGACY (34.45 lengths) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. a) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ELLIS ISLAND more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey A Arries struck the horse ELLIS ISLAND, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. g) JACOB'S LADDER (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L W Goosen advised (ML).
