THE STARTER REPORTED A) WORLD SQUARED stumbled as the start was effected. B) RUN FLORIST RUN was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) ROMAN ROYALTY (AUS) (M V'Rensburg) which over-raced in the early stages, raced to the front of the field. At approximately the 700m, MAYFERN (L Hewitson) made contact with the inside running rail when bumped inwards by ROMAN ROYALTY (AUS) which compounded in the straight. B) The saddle on RUN FLORIST RUN (*J Mphanya) slipped back in the running, this resulted in Apprentice J Mphanya not being able to fully assist his mount around the turn and consequently raced wide into the straight. This was confirmed by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. C) The saddle on CLOVER CLUB (L Mxothwa) slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. D) Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 (read in conjunction with the Guidelines on overweight) in that he was unable to weigh out at the weight confirmed in his riding engagement to ride CLOVER CLUB for Trainer S B KOTZEN. In deciding on a suitable penalty, the Board took into consideration Jockey Mxothwa's poor record in relation to Rule 55.4 and accordingly a penalty of R1500 was imposed. E) An investigation has been opened with regards to the determination of the results of this race. F) The winner ARION EXPRESS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Stable Employee G Venter acting on behalf of Trainer T J Laing advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) SHEZA ROCKSKAR raced equipped with a compression mask (08:52 - 08/03/2021). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER A) CLOVER CLUB Jockey L Mxothwa carried 1 Kg overweight, weighed out at 55.4 Kgs. B) PURPLE AND GOLD Jockey E Webber carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 52.9 Kgs.
