THE STARTER REPORTED: a) APOLLO ROBBINS (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. b) PALACE GREEN (*J Solomons) and SO LONG SPRING (*J R Syster) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BARAK (W Kennedy) raced wide and without cover throughout. b) Apprentice J Solomons reported that PALACE GREEN took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that FIFE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse APOLLO ROBBINS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,000-00 was imposed. e) CAPTAIN CHORUS (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
