THE STARTER REPORTED A) GOLDEN MAN was stubborn loading. B) PRECIOUS STONE was slow away and lost 1 length. C) PHIL'S POWER was stubborn loading. Trainer W G C Miller was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) ASSISTED TAKE OFF (K Minnie) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, raced wide around the turn and compounded from the 300m. B) MARY LEE (*J Mphanya) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. C) PRECIOUS STONE (K Steyn) was hanging out from the 400m. D) Jockey C Maujean reported that GOLDEN MAN made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running and did not persevere with his ride from the 400m. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. E) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that MALDIVES did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. F) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning MALDIVES (L Mxothwa), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for MALDIVES must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. MALDIVES must also gallop for the NHRA veterinary department after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Trainer S B Kotzen was advised.
