THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IRON BARK (*M Zuma) reared on one occasion in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey S Moodley reported that PARIS RIX (7.75 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) In view of performance of SONG OF FREEDOM (K Sakayi) (33.60 lengths, 100/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse PARTY TIME more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey A Arries struck the horse PARTY TIME, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) GOOD TRAVELLER (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
