THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) VIKING RED (J Gates) over-raced in the early and middle stages and as a result was allowed to improve around the field and race in a forward position shortly before entering the final straight. b) Shortly before the finish, PROSPERO (A Marcus) was steadied off the heels of FEVER (W Kennedy) which shifted in. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that JACKMAN (25.70 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey A Arries reported that AUGUST RED (9.40 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) FEVER (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
