THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BAYEDI (C Habib) lost 1 length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey W Kennedy reported that the saddle on PRINCESS THIANA slipped back shortly after the start. This was confirmed by the patrol video. b) SIMPLY COMPLICATED (A Marcus) was switched to the outside of PAPILLION (*G Pieterse) approaching the 1200m. c) PAPILLION (*G Pieterse) was hanging out from the 400m. d) Jockey R Munger signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse GOOD GIRL more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey R Munger the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey R Munger struck the horse GOOD GIRL, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey R Munger used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. e) GOOD GIRL (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Austin acting on behalf of Trainer S W Humby advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GOOD GIRL was ridden by Jockey R Munger (advised 17.03.21/08h49).
