THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANTERIO (C Habib) and CARMYNE (J Penny) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) PAPERLESS POST (M van Rensburg) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start GRIMALDI (G Lerena) and ONLY HIM (S Khumalo) were bumped out by MANTERIO (C Habib) which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with GRIMALDI in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for this gelding's poor performance, Jockey Lerena explained to the Board that GRIMALDI had travelled well and in a good rhythm up until the 600m when he had tired badly. He could offer the Board no other explanation for the poor performance. Assistant Trainer A Peter was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. c) Jockey L J Ferraris reported that MCEBISI took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) IRISH WILLOW (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) TECHNO SAVVY raced without a tongue tie (declared 19 March 2021 at 08H48). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GRIMALDI examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) MCEBISI examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) TECHNO SAVVY saddle rub right side. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
