THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SARAGON (G Lerena) was slow into stride. b) SUNSHINE SILK (*N Klink) was slow losing one length. c) Shortly after the start, JET START (A Marcus) and MAGICAL FLIGHT (M Yeni) came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Jockey G Lerena (SARAGON) briefly lost his left side stirrup-iron. b) In view of the performance of JET START (A Marcus) (betting 17/2, distance 18,00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Jockey Marcus reported that JET START had jumped awkwardly and had been bumped shortly after the start which had precluded him from following instructions which were to race this mare to the front. He further added that after the interference suffered at the start by JET START, she had never travelled well and had taken no interest in running. Assistant Trainer A Peter appeared before the Board and confirmed that the riding instructions were to race this mare from a handy position. He further pointed out that on two previous occasions when this mare had not been able to race from a handy position, she had run poorly. The Board taking these circumstances into account warned Assistant Trainer Peter that should JET START continue to be an inconsistent runner, she would be suspended. c) Jockey C Maujean reported that SHIVERS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) SEEHAAM (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORT ANNE raced without blinkers and raced with a tongue tie on (18 March 2021 at 07H47). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JET START examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) SARAGON cast its left front shoe in running. c) SHIVERS not striding out right front. SCRATCHED: a) BALLET SHOES off feed (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
