THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TROPIC SUN (L Hewitson) kicked the back gates resulting in MILL QUEEN (L J Ferraris) breaking through the front gates prior to the start being effected. A false start was called by the Starter. All the runners were restrained by their respective riders, returned to the start, passed fit to race and reloaded except for MILL QUEEN which was scratched by the Course Veterinary Surgeon for being injured in the stalls. Trainer D J Nieuwenhuizen was advised to re-school MILL QUEEN prior to her next engagement. b) RIO'S WINTER (G Lerena) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RISK TAKER proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with RISK TAKER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning STELLAR MOTION, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer T van Rensburg advised. d) TROPIC SUN (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RISK TAKER not striding out right hind. b) SPIRITOFTHEGROOVE fatigued. c) SPRING BREAK coughing. d) PRINCESS NICOLE blood in mouth. e) STELLA MOTION coughing, epistaxis, recommended 60 day suspension. Assistant Trainer T van Rensburg advised (NHA).
