THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MARMALADE (C Habib) refused to jump. b) TIME TO ROLL (R Fourie) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to MARMALADE (C Habib), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 23.03.21 to the 29.03.21. MARMALADE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer L Forbes was advised. (SL) b) Apprentice K Strydom reported that SHASTINA (17.65 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performances of PRINCESS ANASTASIA (S Veale) (5.35 lengths, 21/4 in the betting) and EIGHTFOLDS LASS (T Godden) (15.65 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Trainers G Puller (WISHFUL GIRL LINN), N Kotzen (FUTURISTIC DAME) and W Whitehead (CHANTY LANE) will be advised that their respective runners failed to adequately parade and that should these horses behave similarly in future, they may be suspended. e) Apprentice T Gumede signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse QUEPID more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice T Gumede the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice T Gumede struck the horse QUEPID, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice T Gumede used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. f) QUEPID (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) QUEPID raced with a compression mask. b) MARMALADE raced with a compression mask. c) EIGHTFOLDS LASS was ridden by Jockey T Godden (advised 22.03.21/10h31). d) SHASTINA was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 2.5kg) (advised 22.03.21/08h06).
