THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VARVACIOUS fly-jumped leaving the stalls and dislodged Jockey C Habib. b) FLAGON (W Agrella) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 800m, INDIGO MOON (R Fourie) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of the loose horse (VARVACIOUS). b) SABRINA FAIRCHILD (L Hewitson) was hanging in from the 400m. In view of the performance of SABRINA FAIRCHILD (L Hewitson) (5.85 lengths, 12/10 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer P Peter will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. c) PRINCESS PHEE (B Jacobson) was hanging in from the 300m. d) Jockey B Jacobson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse PRINCESS PHEE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey B Jacobson the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey B Jacobson struck the horse PRINCESS PHEE, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey B Jacobson used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. e) INDIGO MOON (R Fourie) was hanging out in the concluding stages. f) PRINCESS PHEE (B Jacobson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
