THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) During the loading process, GREAT WARRIOR (M Yeni) kicked the back gate, resulting in KAYLA'S DREAM (J Penny) breaking through. KAYLA'S DREAM was restrained by the Rider, returned to the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
b) GREAT WARRIOR (M Yeni) jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls.
c) GREEK FIRE (S Khumalo) was slow into stride.
d) BARTHOLOMEUS (*C F Dicken) was slow losing two lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, REUNION (W Kennedy) was bumped in by GREAT WARRIOR (M Yeni), which jumped inwards.
b) REUNION (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter compounded in the straight.
c) At approximately the 1300m, POPPYCOCK (*P Mxoli) clipped the heels of KAY TEE PERRY (ARG)
(C Murray). Thereafter, at approximately the 1200m, POPPYCOCK (*P Mxoli) brushed the inside running rail.
d) EARTH SHAKER (*N Klink) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
e) ROMEO'S MAGIC (*J Solomons) hung in from the 300m.
f) Jockey L Hewitson reported that LORD SILVERIO took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g) In view of the performance of REUNION (W Kennedy), (distance 13,10 lengths, betting 7/4), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h) KAY TEE PERRY (ARG) (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (LN).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) KAY TEE PERRY (ARG): Jockey C Murray weighed out at 54,4kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
b) DRUMMER DUDE: Apprentice J R Syster weighed out at 49.9kg, only claiming 0,5kg of his 1,5kg allowance.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) POPPYCOCK raced with a tongue tie on (declared 22 March 2021 at 06H28).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) LORD SILVERIO examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) REUNION examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
c) KAYLA'S DREAM stall injury - small cut in the mouth.
d) POPPYCOCK right hind chestnut knocked off; small cut.
