THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEST FOR THE BEST (*T Gumede) and WILLY THE WIZZARD (M Yeni) lost 2 lengths, respectively. b) RAMPAGE (R Munger) stood losing many lengths. c) CASIMIRO (A Marcus) was squeezed out. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to RAMPAGE, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 01.04.21 to the 07.04.21. RAMPAGE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Erasmus will be advised. (SL) b) At the 150m, TRUMPET VOLUNTARY (R Fourie) was brushed out by CAMORA (L Hewitson) which shifted out away from the crop marginally. Thereafter, TRUMPET VOLUNTARY (R Fourie) hung in, in the concluding stages. c) CASIMIRO (A Marcus) was hanging in from the 300m. d) The saddle on BARRINGTON (S Moodley) slipped sideways in the running. This was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board. e) Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse TRUMPET VOLUNTARY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey R Fourie the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey R Fourie struck the horse TRUMPET VOLUNTARY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey R Fourie used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. f) CAMORA (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
