THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CONTRAIL (S Khumalo) and TECHNO CAPTAIN (L J Ferraris) were stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1200m, BAYVIEW EXPRESS (S Moodley) was carried in by SECRET IS OURS (L Hewitson) which rolled in, it over-raced in the early stages. b) At the 1100m, LEGISLATE'S DANCE (A Marcus) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of BOHEMIAN LAD (C Storey) which was carried in marginally by PUTCHINI (C Habib) which rolled in. Jockey C Habib appeared before the Board with regard to this incident, was shown the patrol films and advised to take more care when shifting ground in the future. c) At the 450m, LIVING WATERS (W Kennedy) had to ease when awkwardly placed between WALTON HALL (S Veale) which shifted in marginally and SECRET IS OURS (L Hewitson) which was carried out by CHEROKEE CHIEF (A Mgudlwa) which rolled out. d) CONTRAIL (S Khumalo) and SECRET IS OURS (L Hewitson) were baulked for a clear run between the 400m and the 300m. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, SECRET IS OURS (L Hewitson) was carried out by CONTRAIL (S Khumalo) which shifted out away from the crop. e) BAYVIEW EXPRESS (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 350m. f) Jockey C Habib reported that PUTCHINI (21.40 lengths) was blowing post race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) In view of the performance of LEGISLATE'S DANCE (A Marcus) (10.60 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer L Forbes will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. h) Jockey L Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse TECHNO CAPTAIN more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey L Ferraris the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey L Ferraris struck the horse TECHNO CAPTAIN, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey L Ferraris used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. i) Jockey C Habib signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4, in that as the rider of PUTCHINI, he weighed out at more than 0.5kg over the carded weight. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. j) CONTRAIL (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Laird advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) WALTON HALL was ridden by Jockey S Veale (Advised 04.04.21/08h08). b) TECHNO CAPTAIN raced with a compression mask. c) PUTCHINI Jockey C Habib weighed out at 54.4kg, 1.4kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) LEGISLATE'S DANCE : Blowing. b) PUTCHINI : Nothing obvious detected.
