THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEZZYOONA (*T Gumede) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the starting stalls, MEZZYOONA (*T Gumede) was bumped and unbalanced by SPIRIT OF DACHA (N Patel). b) DEMIGOD (W Kennedy) was hanging in, in the straight. c) In the concluding stages, TWO FOR TEA (S Veale) was cramped between DEMIGOD (W Kennedy) and GALACTICO (*J Jacobs). Thereafter, this gelding was switched out off the heels of GALACTICO (*J Jacobs) shortly before the finish. d) BABY AFRICA (K de Melo) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. e) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with BABY AFRICA (6.05 lengths) in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of MEZZYOONA (*T Gumede) (14.75 lengths, 20/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) ESSENCE (L Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
