THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SEA WAYS (M van Rensburg) and WILLO'THEWISP (M Yeni) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 150m, LORD MELBOURNE (C Zackey) had to steady when awkwardly placed between TREND MASTER (C Maujean) which shifted out away from crop and OYSTER KING (*C F Dicken) which shifted in away from the crop. b) In the concluding stages, TREND MASTER (C Maujean) and OYSTER KING (*C F Dicken) were carried in marginally by ROMEO'S MAGIC (G Lerena) which hung in from the 200m. As a consequence of this, TREND MASTER and OYSTER KING came together and brushed. Thereafter shortly before the finish line, IMPERIAL MASTER (D De Gouveia) and TREND MASTER were carried in by ROMEO'S MAGIC which continued to hang inwards. The Board after reviewing this incident, was satisfied that Jockey Lerena had made numerous attempts to straighten ROMEO'S MAGIC and viewed this as a racing incident. c) ROMEO'S MAGIC (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Bowles advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LORD MELBOURNE abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
