THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TERRA TIME (C Zackey) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At approximately the 400m, BELLA CHICA (R Danielson) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between the heels of MOONSTRIKE (M Yeni) and CANARY WALK (G Lerena) which rolled out marginally. As a consequence of this, BELLA CHICA had to switch in to continue its run.
b) In view of the performance of BELLA CHICA (R Danielson), (betting 51/20, distance 13,25 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer A B Fortune was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
c) KWAZZI'S LADY (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (GF).
d) MARIGOLD HOTEL (L Hewitson), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Nako advised (GF).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
None.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) MARIGOLD HOTEL raced with a compression mask on (declared 8 April 2021 at 08H39).
b) MOONSTRIKE raced with club colours (all black). Trainer P F Matchett was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owner/s of the horse MOONSTRIKE. Stable Employee C Jenna signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R250 was imposed.
c) ON CUE raced with club colours (blue and black) Stewards permission.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) BELLA CHICA examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) CANARY WALK cut into left hind.
THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
