THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ASGOODASITGETS (M Yeni) was slow into stride. b) MAMBO JUMBO (D De Gouveia) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1000m, GRACE LU (C Zackey) took an awkward stride when on the heels of MAMBO JUMBO (D De Gouveia). b) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that he felt something amiss with MAMBO JUMBO in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) When questioned, Jockey L Hewitson (SIREN OF GREECE) told the Stewards that from the widest draw, his instructions were to drop the filly out and to obtain cover. The filly had been prominent in her early races and had weakened in the closing stages and this change of racing tactics was intended to allow the filly to move through the field in the straight and close the race off strongly. He added that had it not been for the slow pace in the early and middle stages of the race, it was his opinion that SIREN OF GREECE would have been in a position to win the race. The Stewards noted Jockey Hewitson's explanation. d) ELECTRIC BOOTS (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MAMBO JUMBO examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
