THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANOTHER THIEF (G Cheyne), INDIANA BEAU (L Mxothwa) and MY BOY REECEY (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey G Cheyne (ANOTHER THIEF) called for a race review with regards to the start. After reviewing the patrol films in the presence of Jockey Cheyne, the Stewards were satisfied that this colt had not been impeded and took no further action. b) SHESH BESH (C Zackey) raced green and was hanging in from the 400m. c) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of HENDO SHUFFLE, reported that this colt changed stride continually in the running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GREEN VIGILANTE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Noach's recent record with regards to contraventions of this Rule and the number of strikes over the permissible level (14). e) RAVENSTHORPE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
