THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 150m CAPE TO RIO (G van Niekerk) shifted out away from JO LOVES (A Andrews) and had to be straightened. Thereafter, approaching the 50m CAPE TO RIO (G van Niekerk) became unbalanced, changed stride and lost momentum when bumped outwards by JO LOVES (A Andrews) which shifted out. A race review was called with regards to this incident which was followed by Jockey G van Niekerk lodging an objection on behalf of the second-placed horse against the winner on the grounds of interference at the 50m. After hearing all the evidence and viewing the recordings, the Stewards were of the opinion that, but for this incident, CAPE TO RIO would have finished ahead of JO LOVES and therefore upheld the objection. b) Jockey G Cheyne, the rider of PATH TO GO, reported that this filly choked up in the running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey O Noach, the rider of WAVE SIREN, reported that this filly did not stride out freely in the running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) JO LOVES, the second-placed horse after an objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Arnold, acting on behalf of Trainer C Bass-Robinson, was advised.
