THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CARIOCA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding on a suitable penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the horse was struck (17) and Jockey S Khathi's record in relation to Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) and therefore a penalty of a R1500 fine was imposed. B) Jockey R Danielson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse GILLIAN ANNE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding on a suitable penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the horse was struck (13) and Jockey R Danielson's record in relation to Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) and therefore a penalty of a R750 fine was imposed. C) The winner JOYFUL NOISE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer D G Smith acting on behalf of Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
