THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAMAQUERA (R Simons) was slow into stride. b) BELLA ROSA (D De Gouveia) PHOENIX (S Khumalo) and THE FIFTH WAVE (M Yeni) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1300m, ENTENTE (C Zackey) had to ease when awkwardly placed between THE FIFTH WAVE (M Yeni), which rolled out, and GOLDEN SPIRAL (M van Rensburg), which rolled in. b) Jockey L J Ferraris, the rider of FUTURE LADY, accidentally dropped his crop at the 800m. Jockey L J Ferraris reported that he felt something amiss with FUTURE LADY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that GOLDEN SPIRAL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) MAMAQUERA (R Simons) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. e) SAY WHEN (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FLORIDA KEYS raced with a compression mask (declared 17 April 2021 at 08H51). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SO THEY SAY abnormal respiratory noise. b) FUTURE LADY examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) GOLDEN SPIRAL examined post race, nothing obvious detected. d) PASCHALS SAMORE recurrent cut on the left hind dorsal pastern.
