THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPEEDPOINT (J Sampson) was restless in the stalls. Trainer L Goosen was advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) A race review was called into the start of this race, pertaining to SPEEDPOINT (J Sampson) drawn in stall gate 7. In this regard, it was established that, as the start was effected, SPEEDPOINT became restless in the stalls, threw its head down and reared. In reviewing this incident, the Board was of the view that, SPEEDPOINT was not impeded by a handler nor by a faulty starting stall and that, any distance lost by SPEEDPOINT was as a result of its own behaviour therefore, no further action was taken and SPEEDPOINT was deemed to be a runner. b) HARD TO PLAY (C Zackey) was hanging in from the 600m. c) MOMBELA (L Hewitson) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. d) CARTEL CAPTAIN (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D R Drier advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) AFRICAN WARRIOR raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
