THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DREAM DESTINY (*T Gumede) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 450m, BAYBERRY (R Fourie) which was hanging in from the 700m, was carried out by MERLIN FROM BERLIN (M Yeni) which rolled out. b) At the 300m, MARCHINGONTOGETHER (W Kennedy) shifted in to continue its run. c) Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse BAYBERRY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey R Fourie the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey R Fourie struck the horse BAYBERRY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey R Fourie used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. d) SAINT PHILIP (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) IZHIESTIA was ridden by Jockey N Patel (advised 17.04.21/09h11). b) SMART SOX raced without a tongue tie (advised 18.04.21/08h47). c) BAYBERRY raced without cheek pieces (advised 17.04.21/11h49). d) PATHS OF VICTORY Apprentice M Zuma was replaced by Jockey W Agrella. (Jockey change is to be investigated) e) DREAM DESTINY Apprentice T Gumede weighed out at 50.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. f) SMART SOX Jockey S Moodley weighed out at 52.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight.
