THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MAUSSANE (R Fourie) was hanging in between the 450m and 300m. b) In view of the performance of ANMER HALL (AUS) (R Munger) (9.10 lengths, 11/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey R Munger (ANMER HALL) (AUS) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the non-vigorous nature of his ride in the straight. In this regard, Jockey R Munger explained to the Board that, whilst this filly had travelled comfortably into the straight, when he asked it for an effort going through the 300m, this filly had weakened suddenly and felt amiss. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey R Munger and reminded him that he is obliged to report anything which may have affected the performance of his mount in a race. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer W Nel also appeared before the Board and confirmed the above statement of Jockey R Munger and that ANMER HALL (AUS) did have the behavioural characteristic of appearing to travel well in a race, only to disappoint and fail to close off strongly. Additionally, the Board advised Assistant Trainer B Forster to report back on the condition of this filly on return to the stables. Assistant Trainer Forster advised the Board that this filly was coughing on return to the stables. The Board has adjourned the matter for further review. d) LUNDY ISLAND (L J Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) AALSMEER raced with cheek pieces (advised 19.04.21/09h12). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
