THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCE ALF (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) OCEANS PRIDE (*C F Dicken) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TRUST THE FIRE (*N Klink) over-raced in the early and middle stages. As a consequence of this, the saddle on TRUST THE FIRE slipped forward placing Apprentice Klink at a disadvantage in that he was unable to fully assist this gelding in running. b) PASSING SHOT (R Munger) hung in from the 400m. Thereafter leaving the 200m, Jockey Munger accidentally dropped his crop. c) TRYING TIMES (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter advised (RS). d) CARMYNE (J Penny), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst acting on behalf of Trainer P F Matchett advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) APPLE DROP was ridden by Apprentice K Matsunyane who weighed out at 53,5kg as declared.
