THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMART SOX (T Godden) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Between the 400m and 100m, STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) was hanging in. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) was bumped out by COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie) which shifted out. A race review was called into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by a member of the Stipendiary Board on behalf of 2nd placed horse STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) against the winner, COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After hearing the evidence and reviewing the patrol films of the race, the Objection Board upheld the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board took into consideration, that at the point of contact between the horses STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) had not made any material inward movement, the distance between horses at the finish (0.15 lengths) and that in the Board's view, STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) which had run on from behind COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie), had gathered sufficient momentum to come through and win the race. However, at the point where it would have definitively taken the lead, it was bumped out by COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie). This resulted in STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) losing significant momentum. Consequently, the Board was satisfied that, but for the above incident, STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) would have finished ahead of COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie). Accordingly, the objection was upheld and the Judge's result was amended. b) COMMAND CONTROL (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Austin acting on behalf of Trainer S Humby advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) LINNBARA was ridden by Jockey S Cele (advised 26.04.21/08h20). b) AUGUST RED was ridden by Jockey B Jacobson (advised 26.04.21/08h29). c) HAPPY WANDERER raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 16.04.21/09h44).
