THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL SIEGE (+D Cooper) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) VICEROY (+P Mongqawa) was unruly and refused to proceed to the start and was subsequently scratched. This colt is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4 and until such time as this colt proves tractable proceeding to the start on a raceday. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (GF). b) Shortly after the start, NICALEX (+T Baase) and MASAAKEN (AUS) (+C Mabaya) were brushed in by BREAK FREE (+T Mango), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) At approximately the 2200m, MASAAKEN (AUS) (+C Mabaya), which commenced to over-race, clipped the heels of BREAK FREE (+T Mango), which rolled out when having difficulty negotiating the first turn. As a consequence, UNDERSTATED (+J Gwingwizha) was carried out for a number of strides. d) ROYAL SIEGE (+D Cooper) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. At approximately the 400m, ROYAL SIEGE (+D Cooper) had to steady and switch out to avoid running onto the heels of DYNAVISION (+P Mlangeni). Thereafter ROYAL SIEGE (+D Cooper) was allowed to shift in from the 200m. e) MASAAKEN (AUS) (+C Mabaya), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, advised (AH). f) UNDERSTATED (+J Gwingwizha), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
