THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ASGOODASITGETS (+S Siphika) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The saddle on SHIKURU (+L Haruzivi) slipped back running. This was confirmed by the Course Veterinary Surgeon.
b) Work Rider T Ncume was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ICED TEA more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration, the number of times the crop was used (15) and the fact that he won the race. Work Rider T Ncume signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in two work riders races.
Dates of Suspension: 8th May 2021 and the 20th May 2021.
c) Work Rider T Baase was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse SUPER DUPER more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (17) and the distance and manner in which Work Rider T Baase used his crop.
Work Rider T Baase signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in two work riders races.
Dates of Suspension: 8th May 2021 and the 20th May 2021.
d) ICED TEA (+T Ncume), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D N Stenger advised (AH).
Trainer D N Stenger was asked if she could offer any other factors which may have accounted for this filly's improved performance. In this regard, she was unable to provide any suitable explanation. Trainer D N Stenger's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running.
WORK RIDER CHANGES:
None.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) GRACE LU raced equipped with blinkers (declared 22 April 2021 at 16H41).
b) WISHONAIRE raced with a tongue tie on (declared 23 April 2021 at 11H03).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) SUPER DUPER blowing.
b) SHIKURU fatigued.
