THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AMBER LIGHT (+T Baase) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) ZULU WAR CRY (+T Mango) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1100m, WILLOW LANE (+D Cooper) had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of LOVE POSY (+P Mongqawa). Thereafter at the 700m, WILLOW LANE (+D Cooper) rolled out off the rail for no apparent reason, which allowed ZULU WAR CRY (+T Mango) to establish a run on her inside. At approximately the 200m, WILLOW LANE (+D Cooper) was ridden outward and shifted outwards significantly away from the crop with no attempt by Work Rider D Cooper to take corrective measures. As a consequence of this, JUST MAGIC (+T Matsoele) was carried out marginally. The Board was of the opinion that the standard of riding displayed by Work Rider D Cooper throughout the day was not of an acceptable level. Furthermore, the Board have recommended to Mr C J Maree, who oversees the Workriders, that Work Rider D Cooper attend a refresher course at the Thoroughbred Development Trust, and that he be restricted to riding in races up the straight only. The Board, acting in terms of Rule 4.2.18, removed Work Rider D Cooper from his remaining rides on the day and replacement Work Riders were found. b) LOVE POSY (+P Mongqawa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (LN). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LOVE POSY raced equipped with blinkers (declared 27 April 2021 at 06H02). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MARIPOSA blood in the mouth. b) WILLOW LANE blowing; delayed recovery post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
