THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAR EFFECT (+T Baase), MISTER BLUE SKY (+G Dadamasi) and THE LIP (+V Sitheto) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1000m, CURFEW (+T Mango) clipped the heels of RAINY SEASON (+S Mosia). As a consequence of this, MISTER BLUE SKY (+G Dadamasi) had to ease to avoid running onto the heels of CURFEW (+T Mango). b) Work Rider S Mosia was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse RAINY SEASON more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration, the number of times the crop was used (15) and the fact that he won the race. Work Rider S Mosia signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in two Work Riders races. Dates of Suspension: 8th May 2021 and the 20th May 2021. c) Work Rider P Mongqawa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse POMELO more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15) and the distance and manner in which Work Rider P Mongqawa used his crop. Work Rider P Mongqawa signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in 2 Work Riders races. Dates of Suspension: 20th May 2021 and the 27th May 2021. d) RAINY SEASON (+S Mosia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W H Marwing advised (LN). WORK RIDER CHANGES: a) THE LIP was ridden by Work Rider V Sitheto (declared 27 April 2021 at 15H44). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) STAR EFFECT raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 25 April 2021 at 15H09). b) NITRO GIRL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 27 April 2021 at 07H05). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RAINY SEASON blood in the mouth. b) BRAVE JACKSON not striding out left hind. c) MISTER BLUE SKY spread its left hind shoe in running. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
