THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN ASPEN (J Sampson) and HOLLYWOODBOUND (M Yeni) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) PUTTING GREEN (S Khumalo) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SAFFRON RAIN (R Danielson) was bumped inwards by TAKE CONTROL (R Munger) which jumped in. b) Shortly after the start, TIME TO CELEBRATE (S Brown) was buffeted between PRINCESS PHILIPPA (R Simons) and GOLDEN ASPEN (J Sampson) which jumped inwards. c) ROSE OF BAYEUX (G Lerena) over-raced in the early stages. d) Jockeys J Sampson (GOLDEN ASPEN), S Khumalo (PUTTING GREEN) and C Zackey (WALKININMEMPHIS) reported that their respective mounts made abnormal respiratory noises in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Trainer A Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of PUTTING GREEN on return to stables. e) FRANCA (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (RS). f) VOLTRON (L Hewitson), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer E Lerena advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) WALKININMEMPHIS raced with a tongue tie on (declared 3 May 2021 at 07H42). b) TAKE CONTROL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 4 May 2021 at 08H08). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GOLDEN ASPEN blowing and coughing. b) PUTTING GREEN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) WALKININMEMPHIS bilateral nasal discharge.
