THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KWITE A TRIP (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ALEX THE GREAT (J Penny) became unbalanced when bumped by COUNTRY SQUIRE (*J R Syster) which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) KWITE A TRIP (G Lerena) hung in from the 200m. Jockey Lerena reported that KWITE A TRIP made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking KWITE A TRIP more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (13), the fact that he went on to win the race as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline. d) KWITE A TRIP (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ENJOY THE VIEW mouth injury. b) KWITE A TRIP abnormal respiratory noise.
