THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAGARI (A Mgudlwa) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MAGARI (A Mgudlwa) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) LEGEND HAS IT (K de Melo) raced wide into the first turn. c) In the concluding stages, ROCK WITH ME (M Yeni) which rolled out and STAR CRUSADE (S Moodley) which shifted in away from the crop marginally, came together and raced in close proximity. A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by the Rider (S Moodley) of the second placed horse (STAR CRUSADE) against the winner (ROCK WITH ME) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, STAR CRUSADE would have finished ahead of ROCK WITH ME, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Jockey S Moodley's deposit was refunded. d) Trainers J Guthrie (CHATTY CATHY), M D Miller (TWICE THE FLIGHT), P M Gadsby (BRIGADE) and A Wright (LIGHTENING SPIRIT) will be advised that their respective runners failed to adequately parade and that should these horses behave similarly in future, they may be suspended. e) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse STAR CRUSADE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse STAR CRUSADE, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. f) ROCK WITH ME (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) ROCK WITH ME raced with cheek pieces (advised 04.05.21/20h33). b) BRIGADE raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
