THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SOUTHERN SONG (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls dislodging Jockey Khumalo. Jockey Khumalo remounted this filly in the stalls. b) GALAXY RAIDERS (D De Gouveia) and LOUVAIN (J Sampson) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which in his opinion may have accounted for the poor performance of SOUTHERN SONG. Jockey Khumalo explained to the Stewards that this filly had been restless in the stalls, he had raced to a forward position in an attempt to overcome the wide draw. Thereafter she had come under pressure and commenced to hang in from the 400m. He then felt that there was something amiss with her and did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer A Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. b) Leaving the 200m, NOW YOU SEE ME (C Maujean) was brushed by SO THEY SAY (W Kennedy) which shifted out away from the crop. c) Jockey L Hewitson the rider of ANATURA accidentally dropped his crop at the 150m. d) GALAXY RAIDERS (D De Gouveia) hung out in the concluding stages. e) GALAXY RAIDERS (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SUNTRAX was ridden by Jockey N Quale (declared 5 May 2021 at 08H29). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NOW YOU SEE ME raced with a tongue tie on (declared 1 May 2021 at 07H54). b) PASCHALS SAMORE raced unshod (declared 29 April 2021 at 09H24). c) AFTERNOON TEA raced equipped with pacifiers (declared 6 May 2021 at 08H04). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SO THEY SAY abnormal respiratory noise. b) SOUTHERN SONG examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) NOW YOU SEE ME blowing. d) PASCHALS SAMORE brush wound left hind.
