THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SOVEREIGN SOLDIER (D Dillon) fly-jumped leaving the stalls.
b) MASTER OF DESTINY (S Veale) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) THERAVADA (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 400m.
b) At the 300m, MOVIE MAGIC (N Patel) was brushed out by EUPHORIC (*K Strydom) which rolled out.
c) At the 200m, STAR OF JOBURG (S Khumalo) which had come to the end of its run, had to ease when awkwardly placed between CALGARY (C Zackey) which rolled out and EUPHORIC (*K Strydom) which rolled in.
d) RAINBOW RISING (W Kennedy) switched out to obtain a clear run in the concluding stages.
e) Jockey L Hewitson reported that CANADIAN BOLT made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse MASTER OF DESTINY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse MASTER OF DESTINY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (5) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days was imposed. (Suspension dates : 11.05.21 - 17.05.21, bdi)
g) EUPHORIC (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (DA).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) ALFREDO raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 10.05.21/06h28).
b) GAZALA GALLOP raced equipped with blinkers (advised 10.05.21/08h20).
c) STAR OF JOBURG raced with a compression mask.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) Nil.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) CANADIAN BOLT : Nothing obvious detected.
b) CALGARY : Speedy cut right hind.
SCRATCHINGS :
a) THE BAYOU : Reserve runner.
b) COOL RUNNINGS : Not striding out behind. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 15h28 and the betting was 10/1. Rule 53.5 applies.
