THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NIPPY WINTER (G van Niekerk) was reluctant to load. b) AMANZIMTOTI (K de Melo) and SOCIAL SPIRIT (G Cheyne) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) While proceeding to the start PENNY TRUMPET (C Zackey) made contact with the inside running rail at the 500m which became uncoupled and was attended to. b) Approaching the 400m, RED KITE (L Mxothwa), which raced green, had to be steadied when tightened for galloping room on the inside of LOUIS' DIAMOND (A Andrews), which raced green and shifted in slightly. Jockey A Andrews appeared before the Board, shown the race recording and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. c) SOCIAL SPIRIT (G Cheyne) raced green. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding NIPPY WINTER (G van Niekerk), Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be advised to have this filly re schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) MERCURY RISING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
