THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VERSAILLES (C Murray) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. b) NTINGA (G Cheyne) jumped slow, losing one length. c) SNOW DRAGON (A Andrews) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ZAMBAQ (R Fourie) which raced green and was hanging in in the straight, was unable to secure clear running between the 300m and 150m. b) NTINGA (G Cheyne) and VERSAILLES (C Murray) raced green. c) Trainer SJ Snaith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have the registered colours of the owner of the horse VERSAILLES. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, signed an Admission of Guilt and was given the penalty of a warning. d) Jockey A Andrews was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SNOW DRAGON more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Andrews signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Andrews' recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Andrews used his crop and the number of strikes (16) over the permissible level. e) SNOW DRAGON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PP Kruyer was advised.
