THE STARTER REPORTED A) EUROPEAN SUMMER, GIUSTINA and MIA FURETTA were slow away and lost 2 lengths respectively. B) LEMON PEPPER was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. C) LAURETTA MIA was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length. D) GRACE LIGHTNING was unruly at the start and stubborn loading. The starting stall certificate of this filly is withdrawn. E) FLOWER SELLER was unruly at the start, stubborn loading, broke through the front gate and was subsequently scratched by the Starter. The starting stall certificate of this filly is withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) In view of the Starter's report with regard to FLOWER SELLER (J Mphanya), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading into the stalls. Suspension dates: 15 May 2021 to 21 May 2021 both days included. FLOWER SELLER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G D Smith was advised. Notwithstanding the Starter's report and associated suspension of FLOWER SELLER, the Stewards were of the opinion that FLOWER SELLER was a source of danger both before the start and when it broke through the front gate of the stalls and ruled that this filly be suspended for 14 days and until such time that it proves to be tractable proceeding to the start and whilst at the start on a race day in terms of Rule 93.2.5. The two suspensions are run concurrently. B) In view of the Starter's report with regard to GRACE LIGHTNING (L Mxothwa), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading into the stalls. E) Jockey L Mxothwa (GRACE LIGHTNING) appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
