THE STARTER REPORTED A) JAEGER MOON was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length. B) FIND ME UNAFRAID was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. C) MAGNUM FIRE was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) In a slow run race, HEARTBREAK HOTEL (L J Ferraris) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. B) Jockey C Maujean reported that MAGNUM FIRE did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) Jockey M V'Rensburg signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that, whilst riding the horse JAEGER MOON, he saluted in a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed. D) The winner JAEGER MOON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). E) The unplaced horse MAGNUM FIRE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised (LM). THERE WERE NO JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) MAGNUM FIRE post-race distress syndrome. B) COLORADO SPRINGS slow recovery.
