THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WEST COAST LOVER (W Kennedy) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) OPENING GAMBIT (*P Mxoli) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RISE AS ONE proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer J van Vuuren was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended (DR). b) Shortly after the start, OPENING GAMBIT (*P Mxoli) was bumped by SAY WHEN (G Lerena) who was bumped out by WEST COAST LOVER (W Kennedy) which jumped outwards. c) WEST COAST LOVER (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter commenced to hang in from the 400m. d) INDLAMU (L Hewitson) hung in from the 400m. e) RISE AS ONE (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J van Vuuren advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) OPENING GAMBIT raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 11 May 2021 at 14H59).
