THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I'M READY (D Dillon) was fractious in the stalls. b) RIDE THE LIGHTNING (A Mgudlwa) was restless in the stalls. c) SEVENTH SONG (S Moodley) was restless in stalls, jumped awkwardly and lost 3 lengths. Trainer M Roberts will be advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) I'M READY (D Dillon) was hanging in from the 300m, proving difficult to assist. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) FOREST PHOENIX (K Sakayi) was hanging in from the 300m. c) Jockey L Ferraris reported that the bit pulled through FRONTLINE FIGHTER's mouth in the running which resulted in him being unable to fully assist this colt which was hanging out from the 300m. d) At the 200m, DIEDI (L Hewitson) switched in to continue its run. e) SEVENTH SONG (S Moodley) was hanging out in the concluding stages. f) Trainer P Muscutt signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8, in that he presented I'M READY in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this race. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. g) GREY OCEAN (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (ML).
