THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TILLIEANGUS (*N Klink) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) PINO SILVESTRE (R Munger) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (RS): a) CROWN GUARDIAN (G Lerena) hung in from the 300m. b) Approaching the 200m, WRITTEN IN STONE (L J Ferraris) had to steady and switch out to avoid the heels of SEA VIRESCENT (S Khumalo), which hung in badly from the 400m. Thereafter in the concluding stages, TILLIEANGUS (*N Klink) was carried in by SEA VIRESCENT (S Khumalo), which continued to hang in. c) Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised that despite SEA VIRESCENT'S history of hanging in in races, he is required to make more of an effort to keep his mounts straight in races. d) When taking into consideration SEA VIRESCENT history with regards to hanging in, this gelding has been suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.5 and until he proves tractable galloping on a straight course with a companion on a raceday. Trainer A G Laird advised (RH). e) Jockey J Greyling reported that SINGFONICO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) CROWN GUARDIAN (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B D Botes advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PORTICO raced without blinkers (declared 20 May 2021 at 07H16). b) DAN THE LAD raced with a tongue tie on (declared 20 May 2021 at 08H07). c) SILVER SPECTRUM raced equipped with blinkers (declared 20 May 2021 at 08H28). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SINGFONICO lame left fore. b) DUAL AT DAWN abnormal respiratory noise; blowing post race. c) SEA VIRESCENT blood in the mouth. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
