THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OLD GLORY was nervous in stalls. b) SAFARI BLUE was nervous in stalls, reared as the start was effected and slow into stride. c) CRUZADOR was slow into stride. d) WHATEVER NEXT was stubborn loading. e) NORTON SOUND was nervous in the stalls. f) AQUA BERRY was slow away losing one length. g) POT SOX was stubborn loading. Trainer S B Kotzen was advised to re-school this filly prior to her next engagement. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WHATEVER NEXT shifted in away from the crop from the 300m. b) POT SOX hung in from the 200m. c) Jockey C Maujean (CRUZADOR) accidentally dropped his crop at the 50m and thereafter Jockey Maujean reported that this colt did not stride out freely in running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey T Gould reported that OLD GLORY made an abmormal respiratory noise in running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) WHATEVER NEXT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A C Greeff advised. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) None.
