THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) JULIET TANGO (R Munger) was stubborn to load and lost 2 lengths. Assistant Trainer A Fortune acting for Trainer A B Fortune was advised to re-school this filly.
b) KINGSMEADS KRYSTL (L Hewitson) was restless in the stalls. Trainer A Wright was advised to re-school this filly.
c) STING RAY (A Mgudlwa) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) At the 400m, KINGSMEAD KRYSTL (L Hewitson) switched out to continue its run. Thereafter, this filly was hanging in, in the concluding stages.
b) PELARGONIUM (S Moodley) shifted in away from the crop at the 300m.
c) ZURI'S STAR (S Veale) was hanging out from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey S Veale reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) In view of the performance of IMBEJEJE (R Fourie) (16.45 lengths, 7/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer G S Kotzen will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
e) CASHEW (C Habib) raced greenly in the running.
f) Jockey D Dillon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse SASHAY AWAY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey D Dillon the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey D Dillon struck the horse SASHAY AWAY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey D Dillon used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed.
g) AISLING (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo advised (SC).
