THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) AQUAE SULIS (*T Gumede) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, this filly finished its race off strongly. b) KIND JUDY (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 500m. c) WISHFUL GIRL LINN (L Hewitson) was hanging out from the 400m. d) CHANTY LANE (D Dillon) was hanging in from the 400m. e) KAYC AL (R Fourie) which was hanging in from the 300m, had to ease when racing onto the heels of LADY OF LUTETIA (*K Strydom) which was hanging in, in the concluding stages. As a consequence of this incident, Jockey R Fourie was unable to assist KAYC AL to the end of the race. Apprentice K Strydom appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was advised to take all reasonable measures to ensure that he keeps his mounts on a straight course in future. f) At the 150m, in a tightly bunched field, TOMBOLA (L Ferraris) had to ease momentarily when awkwardly placed on heels. g) SECOND REQUEST (*J Syster) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. h) DARK MOON DOWN (*K Brewer) refused to parade. Trainer P Lafferty will be advised that, in terms of Rule 93.2.4, this horse is suspended until such time as it proves tractable to parade, on a race day. i) Apprentice K Strydom signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse LADY OF LUTETIA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice K Strydom the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice K Strydom struck the horse LADY OF LUTETIA, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice K Strydom used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. j) LADY OF LUTETIA (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
